TW TELECOM EXPANDS INTO PHILADELPHIA

tw telecom said on Monday that it is introducing service in Philadelphia.

The company is now able to deploy its portfolio of data and Internet services to more enterprises.

Philadelphia businesses now have access to tw telecom’s Business Ethernet, Intelligent Network and IP networking solutions as well as its ecosystem of on-net data centers. Service is now available in select data centers to customers.

“tw telecom’s entrance into the Philadelphia market enhances network connectivity and cloud options for our clients, not only here in Pennsylvania, but across our target markets,” said Keith Markley, co-founder and chief operating officer, Xand, a provider of data center facilities and managed services across the Northeast. “We are excited to extend our offerings in the Philadelphia market and think our customers will quickly see the benefit from the quality Business Ethernet and Intelligent Network solutions that tw telecom provides.”

The Philadelphia expansion is part of a national multi-market effort by the company to expand its metro fiber footprint across the country this year. In addition to Philadelphia, tw telecom has already entered into two other new markets – Salt Lake City and Richmond, Va. – and plans to enter into two additional new markets – Cleveland and Boston – this year.  The company is also accelerating the density of its metro fiber footprint in more than a third of its existing markets.

Level 3 announced earlier this year its intent to buy tw telecom for $5.7 billion, a merger that is going through the regulatory process.
