Women in the Channel Networking

Marietta, GA – MicroCorp, a distributor of commercial data, voice, UC and data center services, is host to Women in the Channel  (WiC) events as a Diamond Sponsor. MicroCorp was a featured sponsor at the WiC Networking and Enrichment Event during the Channel Partners Evolution Conference & Expo on Aug. 14th  at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Washington, D.C. MicroCorp will also host a WiC networking breakfast during their 13th annual One on One event to be held September 20th in Atlanta.

WiC is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of female channel leaders in technology. Its signature events are a mix of peer networking, motivational remarks, professional development and progress reports on WiC’s many initiatives.  MicroCorp has been a part of the organization and its networking events since WiC’s inception.

Guest speaker Michele Thornton, senior vice president of BET Networks, delivered the keynote address, “PowHer Playbook: Strategies for Growth,” at the Channel Partners Evolution Conference. Thornton shared highlights and advice from her first book, “Stratechic: Life and Career Winning Strategies for Women.” Thornton serves as the head of Television Sales for Centric TV and BET Soul and was instrumental in the rebranding of Centric as “The First Network Designed for Black Women.”   Also featured at this event was MicroCorp CEO, Karin Fields, who shared her experiences as a female channel leader through the Rapid Fire panel and individual interview.

MicroCorp also supported WiC in hosting female veterans interested in learning about career opportunities in the technology channel. Part of WiC’s Outreach Program is in partnership with Channel Partners, BCMOne and Women Veterans Interactive with the support of many of WiC’s sponsors. Veterans attend WiCConnect and shadow WiC Angels throughout the Channel Partners Evolution event. MicroCorp serves as a WiC Angel for an Atlanta-based US military veteran.

“Women in the Channel’s networking events have become a must-attend for women interested in advancing their telecom and IT careers and businesses, and it would not be possible without the generosity of sponsors like MicroCorp,” said WiC President Hilary Gadda, director of the Telepartner program at TelePacific Communications. “Our grassroots organization relies on the support of companies like MicroCorp that see the value in our educational, mentoring and community outreach programs aimed at empowering women in the channel.”

“Women make invaluable contributions in our highly service-oriented industry. Through WiC I have gained lifelong relationships and mentors with strong, thoughtful female leaders,” commented Karin Fields. MicroCorp will also be host to a WiC networking breakfast at One on One, the master agency’s annual partner event. The networking breakfast will feature Mojo Marketing CEO, Angela Leavitt who will focus on social media for the partner channel.

ABOUT WOMEN IN THE CHANNEL (WiC)

Established in 2010, Women in the Channel is a grassroots organization made up of women who are in leadership, ownership and revenue generating roles in the alternate sales channel sector of the telecommunications industry. Month after month, these women are responsible for generating sales for their companies and creating wealth for their families.  WiC members are wives and mothers and sisters, and a high percentage of us are the main breadwinners in our families. WiC brings together this group because in an industry that is growing, expanding and changing the number of women at such levels is not matching that growth.   To learn more and to become a member, please visit www.womeninthechannel.com.
