I'm surprised, time and again, at the number of telecom resellers who allow their underlying carrier to also serve as the resporg (i.e., responsible organization) for the buyer's toll-free numbers.
Resporgs maintain toll-free registrations distributed by the SMS/800 Number Administration Committee and is part of the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions. But, why should you care? |

My week in DC has been very eventful because I happened to be here the same week as the big FCC Net Neutrality announcement. On Tuesday I attended "Comptel's Competition and Innovation Policy Summit." Chip Pickering and staff put together an impressive agenda including FCC Commissioner Mignon Clyburn, Sen. Roger Wicker, Chairman of the Senate Commerce Subcommittee, and Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, ranking member of the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology. All of the speakers referenced the pending FCC announcement and the re-write of the 1996 Act. The consensus is that a number of very important telecom issues are coming to the Hill in the next year. |
