Hello, Barbara. To begin, please tell us about your professional background. 

When I think about my professional background it brings back such great memories. I have witnessed the evolution of this fabulous industry. I have had four major employers during my expansive career, Michigan Bell, Sprint, WorldxChange and AireSpring. Each employer afforded me significant opportunities that allowed me to enjoy coming to work. Some of the highlights include at Michigan Bell, the Renaissance Center Project and working with hundreds of professionals from many industries. At Sprint I was involved in the implementation of the first network that provided 100,000 miles of fiber optics and was the first to implement a full SS7 network. Remember the PIN DROP? WorldxChange gave me the opportunity to travel the world as I managed a network of 20 international switches and eight domestic switches. At AireSpring I have had some remarkable projects and never a dull day working with our carriers on Service Delivery. 

How long have you been with AireSpring and what is your current role? 

I have been with AireSpring for thirteen years now. My current role is managing escalations with all carriers. Each carrier has a unique way of implementing Service Delivery and each day is a significant challenge and quite exciting when you need to untangle issues that develop. Sometimes I smile thinking, "How did this order ever end up this way?" AIreSpring also offers services, with "boots on the ground" to assist customers who need assistance turning up their circuits. I validate their work and their billing. Another responsibility I have is the privilege of coordinating our bi-weekly executive meetings. This is quite educational, and I can only sit and admire how the teams all work together on issues. 

What do you enjoy most about working with AireSpring?

AireSpring is the only company I have worked for that listens to all issues that are brought up to our Senior Executives. They are discussed, assessed, and resolved. You always have an opportunity to make suggestions and feel appreciated when you do. I see how every single employee is important and you are never just a number here, you are a cherished employee. You are important, you are part of a team, your role matters. That is what I am impressed with and that makes me feel proud to be an employee.

And the best part is the weekly CEO letter to all employees. This is a very transparent company, and all employees are aware of all our successes and where improvement is needed. All employees have an opportunity to share their views and their hobbies as well. We all unite under one objective, to make our customer feel important.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the office?

I feel alive when I am outside. It is not uncommon now for me to work on projects with my sons. Recently I moved to Missouri and my husband wanted a back porch. I actually hung nine windows and helped put up a deck. I also enjoy growing things, I find myself planting often and trying to grow bushes, trees, plants, whatever catches my fancy. I love my weekends.
