AireSpring was honored to receive AT&T's Market Mover Award for 2020. The Market Mover Award is given out yearly to select Solution Providers who post the highest total new sales revenue. The announcement was made during AT&T's annual Fusion Conference in November.

The awards were established shortly after the launch of the AT&T Partner Exchange program in 2013 to celebrate key accomplishments and partner successes. It is a way for AT&T and AireSpring to acknowledge their joint success in a job well done. The AT&T Market Mover Award highlights the strong relationship between AireSpring and the AT&T Partner Exchange and underlines the value this partnership brings to the channel and to our mutual customers.

"AireSpring has long been a top solution provider in AT&T's Partner Exchange," said Chris Roy, vice president, Wholesale and Partner Solutions at AT&T. "Since the inception of the program they have played an integral role in shaping and developing our automation strategy. We appreciate the partnership and congratulate them on their continued success."

AireSpring has been the recipient of this prestigious award since its inception in 2014 and has been recognized with this honor for six consecutive years.

AireSpring is excited to announce the release of MaX SMS its new Business SMS application that enables landline to mobile phone texting. The new product is available as an add-on to AirePBX Enterprise.

AirePBX Enterprise customers using the MaX UC client can choose an SMS Option to send SMS messages directly from MaX UC desktop (for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android). They will also be able to receive SMS responses within the MaX UC client. Partners using AireSpring's online quoting tool, QuoteSpring™, can add this unlimited optional feature when quoting a new AirePBX Enterprise seat. To begin, please tell us a little about yourself, Top Speed Data, and your professional background in Telecom.

I have a fairly diverse background within my Telecom career. I worked for Pacific Bell/SBC for 23 years, starting out in an Engineering file room. I became one of the first women installers ever for any telco, installing residential and business services, when we had to go into homes and buildings to install or retrieve phones and equipment that were the property of the company (everything was hard-wired into the location at that time). After that I was promoted to a management position in the Project Engineering department that manually posted specifications for cable numbers in the job design provided by the engineers. These were needed to improve the outside plant for new services, so that installers could find the number of the cable pair out in the field.

In my varied experience, I also worked in a Residential Billing office for seven months, but quickly moved on to become an Account Manager. I found I could sell ice to Eskimos, so naturally, I loved that role. I was promoted up to a 2nd level Manager over a team of 18 1st level Sales Support Managers who were focused on provisioning for sales made by Account Managers. When I was ready to accept a 3rd Level position, SBC was about to become AT&T, so I chose to take SBC's Early Retirement offering.

I took about eight months off to travel and enjoy life, then managed a group of April Cornell stores, part of a large retail chain with nearly 100 locations across the U.S. and in Canada. At the same time, Anthy O'Brien, (Co-Founder, President & CEO) and Glenn Illian (Co-Founder, SVP of Technology), the major partners at Top Speed Data, asked my husband Mark Mattson (Partner/Technology Advisor) and I to quit our new jobs and come work with them. We were happy to accept the offer and shortly after joining, we had a chance to become minor partners in Top Speed Data. We have never looked back. SBC didn't have the ability to sell the mid-links to a circuit, only the local loops, so they would call us for mid-link pricing, helping them to extend one circuit over a long distance, directly from point A to point B. Now we work with over 250 providers, including AireSpring.

What do you like about working with AireSpring?

First of all the best part of working with AireSpring has been Chris Abbott (Regional Channel Manager) and how responsive he is. We love working with him. Secondly, once something is sold, the process is easy and thorough. The provisioning teams at AireSpring provide very detailed information to our clients about what to expect and when. I've sold a lot of services in my lifetime and have NEVER seen that complete of an explanation of what to expect. That was great. Also, pricing from AireSpring is awesome. The fact that you offer SD-WAN is always a plus. I love how my quotes have always come back with options, as that's really important. AireSpring is just so thorough.

"The provisioning teams at AireSpring provide very detailed information to our clients about what to expect and when. I've sold a lot of services in my lifetime and have NEVER seen that complete an explanation of what to expect."

"I find that because I'm there to help fix an issue and not leave my clients to struggle, they come to me for everything. If they know I'm there for the bad they come to me for the good, which is helping them achieve the network they need… and when I have a provider that's there to be my team member the way AireSpring is, it's a huge help to my success."

What would you say is the secret to being a successful trusted advisor in today's marketplace?

For me it is paramount not to just sell something, but to offer up the relationship. You have to be there for your clients when they need help. I find that because I'm there to help fix an issue and not leave my clients to struggle, they come to me for everything. If they know I'm there for the bad they come to me for the good, which is helping them achieve the network they need. I have worked with clients since 2001 who will buy strictly from me as they know I'm there for the relationship, not the sale. The sales will come because Customer Service is where it's at. Also, we have choices as trusted advisors, and when I have a provider that's there to be my team member the way AireSpring is, it's a huge help to my success. My customers can call me 24/7, I don't brush people off.

What is the "next big thing" you think channel partners should be aware of or get involved in for 2020-2021?

Now that Covid-19 has flipped our world upside down, partners should take advantage of "Work From Home" capabilities. We need to realize that even after a vaccine comes into play, some companies will need help with decisions on whether to have everyone come back into a building or continue this "Work From Home" arrangement. As trusted advisors, we should focus on learning about products that offer the secure, fast, easy-to-adjust solutions that help our clients remain nimble and allow them to keep working with their clients. Education will be a key factor and it's important to take advantage of all the free training carriers offer if you want to avoid falling behind.

"As trusted advisors, we should focus on learning about products that offer the secure, fast, easy-to-adjust solutions that help our clients remain nimble and allow them to keep working with their clients."

What are some of your hobbies and interests?

We love our animals. We have two dogs, named Rosie and Oliver, and two cats, an orange tabby named Sammy and another tabby, Olivia. They are both 14. We love taking our dogs for walks and just being around them. We miss concerts. My favorite is Arcade Fire, a fun indie Canadian band. We've gone to so many concerts, plays, and trips around the Globe that one of my oldest friends said, "Don't you two ever just stay home?" Well we're done with that stay-at-home thing and we can't wait to be able to travel again and do the many other things we love, like attending Golden State Warriors basketball games. Our first trip when the pandemic is over might be to London where we have friends and just love the electric feeling there.

Please tell us about your professional background and how long you've been in the telecom industry.

I stumbled through college for a few years, switching programs and completing an Associate Degree in IT Networking. The timing was bad for finding entry level positions and I finally landed a Telecom/Networking Repair role with DSCI Corporation (a Boston based CLEC) in 2008. I started out working nights and weekends in repair, and eventually moved into a service delivery role for a time. I did configuration and design work for MPLS, Managed Firewall, iPBX phones, failover and multi-site. Eventually, I transitioned into a leadership role in repair as a supervisor. In 2016 DSCI was acquired and merged with TelePacific to form TPx Communications. I was the Managed Services Engineer (MSE) who organized and deployed 1900 Polycom iPBX phones and managed the porting for 63 locations, as well as over 4000 DIDs. Budget discussions and strategy for the project took nearly three months, then deploying those locations took six weeks with help from a few friends who have now joined AireSpring as well, including Mike Crosby (Managed Services Engineer) and Ian Killpartrick (Managed Services Engineer).

My favorite customers are the ones with the biggest challenges, and my most entertaining customer service surprise was when a $50k MRC customer demanded I attend a site meeting to discuss Service Tickets. I had just returned from going on leave when my wife had our second child. I went to the meeting, and it turned out there was no discussion of service tickets. Instead the customer surprised me with lunch and a baby-shower gift basket full of newborn outfits. The account had some tough challenges but together we created a really effective managed services carrier/customer relationship for an 800-person medical hospital facility.

Tell us about your role at AireSpring and how long you've been with the company.

I came on with AireSpring as a Senior Managed Services Engineer (SMSE) at the end of July. I was excited to bring with me some polished technical skills and my deep technical understanding of VoIP and traditional telecom technology, but also a great perspective on customer service. I have since transitioned into a supervisory role for the MSE Team.

What do you enjoy most about working at AireSpring?

I greatly enjoy being able to roll up my sleeves and dive into customer service, solving business problems as well as technical ones. I completed my four year education a couple of years back, focusing on Business Administration. As a new person here at AireSpring, it's great to be taken seriously and listened to! I've always been a very process-oriented and forward thinking person, and prior to AireSpring, I often met with tenured folks who are resistant to change. There's a terrific collaborative set of personalities at AireSpring and everyone seems really eager to change when a good idea comes around!

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the office?

I have a lot of interests. My wife, Kendra and I have two boys and we do pretty much everything together. My kiddos are Henry age seven and Logan age three. We love to go to the beach at York, ME every year. It's a really special beach to us. We always visit the Nubble Lighthouse. More recently, our puppy from the spring has become a full-sized dog. Phoebe is a member of the family and is the most bonkers German shorthaired pointer ever. She doesn't stay still very often, so the only picture of her shows her taking a nap. Most recently the boys were out for Halloween in costume.

We're remodeling our home, currently a bathroom and a bedroom are mid-process with changes to doors, drywall, paint, trim, closets, heating system and electrical. The "fix it one room at a time" is not for everyone, but we enjoy being thrifty and getting maximum quality for our dollar. Rewiring each room for modern electrical outlets with a ground has been a home ownership journey to be sure! I also really enjoy restoring cars as a hobby. I sold off my last project car, a 1991 Audi Coupe Quattro, one of only 1500 or so sold in North America. It was pretty rare and a money pit in rough condition. It came down to funding that car or my wedding. We've been married since 2011 and together since 2008, while the car has been gone since 2013, so I made the right choice! Someday I will get another cool car just for fun!
