Enterprises across the globe are adopting new technologies at a record pace. Innovate or be left behind is the mantra for today's businesses, large or small. Cloud hosting services and datacenters, Software as a Service (SaaS), UCaaS, CCaaS, SD-WAN, work-from-anywhere (WFA) solutions are all being adopted and implemented at record numbers. But how do you balance the need for security with the need for implementing new and innovative capabilities, technologies and applications which increase your network's attack surface?

Chances are your clients' legacy systems and network architectures are not designed to withstand the security threats posed by Ransomware and other malicious acts that businesses face on a daily basis. The time has come to examine and reevaluate their wide are networks (WANs) and all the applications that depend on it and eliminate any inefficiencies and security gaps.

SASE, or secure access service edge, is a new promising architectural framework introduced by Gartner that addresses security challenges of the new cloud era and can help reduce your clients' exposure to security risks.

Join AireSpring's SVP of Solutions Engineering, Mike Chase, on Wednesday November 17, 2021, for an overview of SASE, its features, and advantages. Get ready to prepare your clients for this new technology that will become even more necessary in the immediate future.

To begin, please tell us a little about yourself, your company, and your professional background in the industry?

My company, Select Communications, provides technology solutions that help companies free up staff, cut through red tape, reduce spend and improve performance. And we do it by treating our customers the way we want vendors to treat us. The company is comprised of an amazing mix of the industry's most Top-Notch professionals. Combined our team has over 100 years of experience, and we are all highly educated in different areas of technology! My team provides an amazing support system, and our clients truly trust that we will take the utmost care of them and their businesses. Although I have only worked for 2 companies during my years in the industry, I have submerged myself in every aspect of the different layers of technology. My favorite areas to discuss with clients are SD-WAN, DaaS, or SASE! I feel like they get skipped over too often but provide so much value to customers.

What do you like about working with AireSpring?

AireSpring has been the number one go-to for me from the jump. They have the most awesome team; they are handpicked from the industry. I like that AireSpring has very little turnover in staff and that you really have the opportunity to get to know your support team. They put forth the effort to make sure that I am a priority and that I'm taken care of but more importantly, that my clients are taken care of! When mama's happy…

What would you say is the secret to being a successful trusted advisor/sales agent in today's marketplace?

First and foremost, Knowledge. You MUST understand the technology that is available and what problems it can solve. Otherwise, you can't truly advise your customers on what is best for them. So always be learning and take advantage of educational opportunities in the channel like AireSpring's SD-WAN Boot Camps taught by Mike Chase [SVP Solutions Engineering, AireSpring].

What is the "next big thing" you think trusted advisors/agents should be aware of or get involved info the near future?

Oh…Now that truly is a loaded question to which I don't believe there necessarily is a next "BIG" thing, but the ability to combine all the things. We have seen this with UCaaS and CCaaS creating a hybrid model of layers, and with everything that SD-WAN is capable of, I can foresee to not be a "thing" at all, because it simply won't be a tangible touch and feel, but simply just the cloud!

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of telecom?

I am a wife, and mom to 4 young men, and we just had our first grand baby (that's also a boy!) Joshua our oldest is 20, he is dad to baby Sage or Saijj as we like to call him. EJ is 15, and enjoys coding video games, skateboarding, and dirt bikes. Jayce is 13 and enjoys Boxing and video games. And then there's Jonah who is 12. He's our Pee Wee Football star linebacker and his team just won the Select Pee Wee Football Super Bowl. I enjoy my weekly mental releases such as attending Pilates classes and gardening or watching our youngest be a rockstar on the football field. I am a pretty active "football mom" as a result. I spend a lot of my free time spoiling our new grand baby.

Please tell us about your professional background and how long you've been in the telecom industry.

I joined the Telecom industry after graduating from Texas State University in 2002. At that time, I accepted an offer with AT&T for the position of Business Sales Manager- National Business Markets. The 15 years I spent at AT&T allowed me to expand and enhance my product knowledge on connectivity and network solutions. I was eventually promoted from Business Sales to Sales Management and Channel Marketing Director.

I enjoyed working in Channel Sales and I continued to focus on that sector of the industry after leaving AT&T for a position as Director of Sales with Intellys, a large technology consulting and services company. While at Intellys, I developed strategic solutions for business clients by partnering with channel managers, trusted experts, and master agents for pricing, proposals, and customer carrier support. After Intellys, I served as Dallas/Ft. Worth Channel Manager for Logix Fiber Networks where I supported 100 partners in the DFW region.

Tell us about your role at AireSpring and what you plan to accomplish or what your goals are.

I joined the AireSpring team in September as the Channel Manager for Dallas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. My goal is to promote the AireSpring Advantage and support partners in this region. I'm excited as DFW is a market with lots of potential for growth. Oklahoma and Arkansas also have a strong partner community that can benefit from working with AireSpring.

What do you enjoy most about working at AireSpring?

The family environment at AireSpring is amazing. When I reach out for help or support our employees always provide valuable feedback. Our goal is to always supply white glove customer service to our partners and their clients and this philosophy applies to co-workers as well. I really appreciate everyone's help as I get acclimated in my new position.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the office?

I am a family man and enjoy spending free time with my wife Jeni and our six-year-old daughter Dylan. I enjoy being outdoors and traveling with my wife. We both love to try out new restaurants. Dylan also keeps us pretty busy. So, I spend the majority of my free time with family and friends. We especially like to relax in the backyard barbecuing and watching sports.
