Airespring was honored by industry voters for the second year in a row with the prestigious People's Choice Stevie Award for Favorite Customer Service for Telecommunications. This consecutive annual win of the popularly-voted award comes on the heels of judge-awarded Silver and Bronze Stevie Awards for Customer Service last month, as AireSpring was again voted the favorite provider of customer service among the more than 44,000 global votes.

AireSpring has always delivered premier level customer service, built around white glove, high touch personal interaction in a field that relies increasingly on automated response and artificial intelligence (AI), customer service tools that are often perceived as impersonal. This award underscores the team effort that drives forward the 'AireSpring Advantage' and makes our customer support system unique.

"It is especially gratifying to have won the People's Choice Award for Customer Service for the second year in a row," said Avi Lonstein, AireSpring CEO. "AireSpring Team Members work hard 24/7/365 to maintain the AireSpring Advantage, and this award helps show we are on the right track. This prestigious Award belongs entirely to our dedicated Team Members, who deserve recognition of their continual effort to improve our already strong customer service."

The awards will be presented to honorees during a virtual awards ceremony on April 14. To learn more about the Stevie Awards, visit www.StevieAwards.com/Sales.

Tell us a little about yourself, your agency, and your professional background in telecom?

I have been in the telecom world since 2007 and have worked at AT&T and a small independent telecom agency, but I am most proud of settling with PacStates in Reno, Nevada. PacStates is the premier communications and technology partner for companies in the greater Northern Nevada region and has been for over 35 years. In 2020, PacStates was awarded the National Council for Educational Technology's (NCET) Tech Company of the Year!

"Partnering with AireSpring provides our customers with access to the best solutions in the marketplace, but with a family-feel approach that matches PacStates' company culture."

What do you like about working with AireSpring?

Partnering with AireSpring provides our customers with access to the best voice and data technology solutions in the marketplace, but with a family-feel approach that matches PacStates' company culture. I have known my Channel Manager, Joe Brondon, for over five years. He and the team at AireSpring are incredibly responsive to all our requests and their Project Management team is second to none.

What would you say is the secret to being a successful trusted advisor/sales agent in today's marketplace?

Being service-minded, fostering trust with customers, and doing the right thing even when it hurts.

What is the "next big thing" you think trusted advisors/agents should be aware of, get involved in, etc. in 2021?

I'm pretty sure a little thing called security is going to be top of mind for all businesses in 2021. I recently attended Mike Chase's [SVP Solutions Engineering, AireSpring] Security Bootcamp and am learning to approach all customer interactions with a security mindset. With every UCaaS, Internet, voice, equipment sales opportunity, we need to be thinking about how to make it as secure as possible. These hackers aren't going anywhere, and we need to help our customers be protected and proactive. With COVID continuing to impact how and where we work for the foreseeable future, securing every internet-connected device is more critical than ever before.

"I recently attended Mike Chase's Security Bootcamp and am learning to approach all customer interactions with a security mindset."

Another thing Channel partners should be aware of in 2021 is doing what you say you're going to do! We've been doing it for 35 years and plan to stay the course of honesty, integrity, doing what's right, and following through on our commitments. At PacStates, we believe if you take care of the customer, success will follow. Never forget that we are in a service-first industry!

Being the trusted advisor during critical and difficult times, how does your company cope?

We unwind by having fun! 2020 was an unprecedented year and 2021 is shaping up to be equally challenging. The responsibility of helping our customers remain open, productive, and successful is immense. In addition to the love, respect, and honor we have for each other, we unwind by being silly and adding humor whenever possible. Office pranks are a regular occurrence. At a recent all-hands meeting where masks were mandatory (of course), one of my co-workers showed up wearing a skeleton Halloween mask. It's little things like this that keep us laughing and loving each other and what we do.

Tell us about your professional background and how long you've been in the telecom industry.

I started in the military (U.S. Army Captain, 82nd Airborne) and transitioned into defense contracting, which allowed me to do a number of different things. I had an opportunity to move into telecom ten years ago and have really enjoyed it. I love the industry. It lets me dip my toe into lots of different pools and exercise my entire brain, all in one day. I love the variety of it.

Before joining AireSpring, I was Director of Product Management at Nuspire, a managed security services provider (MSSP). Prior to that, I was in Product Management positions with HP (Consumer PC Security Solutions), Flexential (Managed Services and Security) and CenturyLink Business for Enterprise (now Lumen) where I ended up as Senior Product Manager for their Secure Web Gateway solution. So I've spent ten years in product management, eight in managed security.

Transitioning into managed security from a managed network background set me up for this current role, and it's been a lot of fun. I get to work with really talented people and solve some very technical customer requirements.

Tell us about your role at AireSpring.

I came on board in February as the Director of Product Management for Telecom, which puts me over UCaaS, Managed Security and SD-WAN services. I'm here to help out with structure and process behind how AireSpring evaluates customer requirements, and how we develop products that meet those requirements.

I take a very analytical approach to those things. I'm a numbers guy. I let the numbers lead me. I believe in research and feedback from customers and partners to lead me to the best products and services for their needs. I take their input very seriously and let that drive my road map. I'm definitely looking forward to growing and maturing AireSpring's managed security services as well as SD-WAN.

What do you enjoy most about working at AireSpring?

Two main things. First, my teammates are amazing, really talented, really smart, but what I like most about the folks here is that everyone has the customer's best interests at heart. From Avi [Lonstein, AireSpring CEO] all the way down to me and my team, we put our customers' experience first. Everything is designed around that. When I make a product management decision, I literally start with "How is this going to positively affect the customer experience?" When you have that as a core driver, everyone can row in the same direction. We all want our customers to have the absolute best experience and to remain life-long customers of AireSpring.

The second thing I love is that as a product manager at AireSpring, I'm not tethered to any one network. That was always the limitation at my previous companies. If we weren't able to use our own on-net services, the price just went through the roof. At AireSpring we have access to all the best carriers across the country, including wireless and satellite, and to have that flexibility as a product manager is just liberating. I'm designing services around customers and their needs, and not 'how do I make this work on my network.'

Here, we start out of the gate with all the services made to integrate with each other. That's a great position. It gives our customers great flexibility. They can add services to a single bill and have a single point of contact for their UCaaS, their SD-WAN and their firewall, all on the best network that's available to them at their location(s). That's a great position to be in.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the office?

My time out of the office is focused on my family. One-on-one time with my wife Heidi is very precious. She was elected to our city council last November and sworn in last January, so we're all very proud of her. We love going to restaurants-we just celebrated a birthday at a wonderful new restaurant in our favorite small town. And concerts, whenever they come back!

We have two kids, our 16-year-old son Connor, a sophomore, and our almost-12-year-old daughter Emerson, in sixth grade . Connor had a great season in football as one of only four sophomores on the varsity team, which made the state semifinals. Our daughter is a competitive swimmer who was just invited to a state meet, and she and Mom are off to another meet in Wisconsin. So we spend a lot of time in the stands, but it's all for the individual character-building that school sports bring.

When I have free time, I hit the golf links with some close friends, and we socialize with a tight group of friends, mostly connected over our kids. And I just recently found out that my wife made money, growing up, by tying fishing flies. I never knew that! I love fly fishing, so we have a deal: she ties the flies, I get to go fishing in Colorado's rivers, and I bring the trout home and cook it. What a great give and take, right?
