QuoteSpring 4.0 Update - Popular Speeds

QuoteSpring 4.0 has been updated with a Popular Speeds option for Broadband connectivity. The Popular Speeds option will allow you to run a select set of the most “popular”, most ordered and the most available broadband speeds. AireSpring has created the Popular Speeds option to limit the volume of API tasks per quote. Popular Speeds will run more efficiently thus mitigating API time outs and errors.

When creating multi-location quotes, your browser can be heavily impacted by all the data. Selecting Popular Speeds will tremendously reduce the impact on your viewable connections page and allow for more sites and ease of use. Popular Speeds also allow you to easily identify which carriers are in-region and available.

Each carrier and service is represented under Popular Speeds and your quote will include the entire range of carriers and services without any exclusions. Popular Speeds is simply a more efficient quoting method and makes our QuoteSpring tool faster and better than ever. We encourage you to run Popular Speeds for your Broadband quotes.

Popular Speeds are available with multiple connectivity types. For more information about QuoteSpring and all our channel solutions, please contact your AireSpring Channel Manager.

Across the globe, corporate networks are adapting to the many changes that cloud-based applications such as UCaaS demand. SD‐WAN has emerged as the go-to technology solution to address the pain points associated with the corporate WAN issues of high-cost, low bandwidth, and resource-intense management. But how can SD-WAN improve the real-time experience of UCaaS?

Unfortunately, too many corporations rely on the public internet for connectivity with their UCaaS solution and face issues such as dropped calls, weak signals and lagging video connections. Their networks can’t prioritize traffic to alleviate congestion, jitter and packet loss – all factors that ruin the user experience and erode everyone’s productivity, and in many industries, have delayed the adoption of UCaaS.

Join two of AireSpring’s top Solutions Sales Engineers for an overview of how AireSpring’s Platinum SD-WAN, paired with our AirePBX UCaaS solution, work together to create the ideal, affordable solution for a premiere, trouble-free, top-performing UCaaS solution.

  • Learn how AireSpring Platinum SD-WAN can improve the UCaaS experience and ensure QoS and QoE.
  • Find out what SD-WAN deployment model is right for UCaaS.
  • Learn how voice, data and video can be prioritized in a just-in-time scenario according to a corporation’s needs.
  • Hear how SD-WAN provides additional security for UCaaS communications above what is possible with traditional WAN links.

Welcome to the latest edition in our series of profiles, shining the spotlight on AireSpring’s amazing partners. This month, we’re speaking with Ashley Powell, VP of Business Development at Creekview Group.

Hello Ashley, thank you for agreeing to speak with us today. To begin, please tell us a little about yourself and your professional background.

In 2001, I had my first telecom job with ITC Deltacom, working in outside sales. I have pretty much been in a variation of IT/telecom since that time. I continued with EarthLink after they acquired Deltacom, and had my first brush with real success, winning some sales trips and multiple sales awards. I spent a few years supervising a team of telecom account managers in the Southeast which allowed me to travel, and I really enjoyed that. It provided an opportunity to work with customers and understand the issues and concerns that arise after services are installed. Learning to help with those issues was important.

In 2013 EarthLink promoted me to Southeast Director of the Partner Channel, which introduced me to working in the channel and allowed me to meet partners and work with larger, multi-location customers. One of the partners I met was Kathleen Waters, President of Creekview Group. We developed a great working relationship which led to my joining her at Creekview Group in October 2015. We’ve been very successful with multi-location businesses both nationwide and regional. I love the fact that I get to learn something new all the time and that no two days are the same!

What do you like about working with AireSpring?

AireSpring’s product suite fits our customers to a “T!” Everyone on the team is very responsive and gets us the information, help or results we need quickly. We often experience issues that need to be addressed urgently, and the AireSpring teams are always willing to roll up their sleeves and work with us. By participating in customer conference calls with AireSpring, I’ve gotten training on new products and have a better understanding of the solutions being proposed.

What would you say is the secret to being a successful agent?

Listening to the customer is the most important thing. In my early days of selling, I was so excited to tell the customer everything I knew about the products I sold. Showing off my knowledge was of utmost importance to me. Now that I’ve been doing this for so long, I realize that 1) I don’t know as much as I thought I knew; and 2) providing the best solution for the customer is a collaborative effort that involves knowing and understanding their business.

The customer will almost always lead you in the right direction if you are paying attention. You can definitely persuade a customer to buy your solution without having a good understanding of their needs. However, if you are in the business to establish long-term relationships with your customers, take some time to listen. It may take longer for you to close the deal by taking this time, but you will have a more satisfied customer for a longer period of time.

What is the "next big thing" you think agents should be aware of in 2019?

I think the advantages of SD-WAN cannot be ignored. The ability to aggregate bandwidth offers a cost-effective way to provide back-up for those customers who have hesitated to make a business continuity plan due to budget constraints. Having that connectivity as active/active means the customer isn’t paying monthly for services that can’t be used on a daily basis. Auto-failover means the customer doesn’t have to deploy IT staff to remote locations to get services up and running when there’s an outage or a degradation on their circuits. Adding SD-WAN is an easy conversation for IT Directors and CIOs to have with CFOs—it just makes sense. Creekview Group is including SD-WAN in every proposed solution that goes out the door.

What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of telecom?

I try to play tennis three times a week with a coach and some other crazy tennis ladies in town. My husband and I are “empty nesters” now, but we get lots of enjoyment from our Jack Russell puppy, Tank. He keeps us entertained and keeps us moving as he is active and loves his walks.

Here's a group picture of my family. Alec, age 24 (standing), attends Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA. Robert, age 20 (seated), is a sophomore at Presbyterian College. On my left is my husband, Craig. There's a picture of Tank and one of Craig and me enjoying a visit to New York City.

I’m pretty much addicted to TV—and there’s so much good TV out there right now, I can always find a good show for binging. I’ve also got a secondary addiction to true crime podcasts. Maybe there is a support group somewhere?

Ashley, thank you for taking time to talk with us today.

At AireSpring, we know that it is our dedication to customer service that sets us apart, and customer service begins with great employees. Here is your chance to get to know another key member of the AireSpring team. This month we are talking with Roger Seelaender, Manager of UCaaS Engineering.

Hello Roger. To begin, please tell us about your professional background and how long you've been in the telecom industry.

I have been in the Telecom industry since 1982. Wow, 37 years! And it’s never boring. I started in the US Air Force as a switch technician and joined the Northern Telecom (Nortel) installation support team in 1985. In 1991 I joined their development arm, Bell Northern Research, as a digital multiplex switch (DMS) feature designer. While employed there, I spent several years in Europe working on European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) developments where I wrote the software used by Nortel Systems to penetrate the market in Germany. I rose in the ranks to director of Unified Communications on call server or CS1K, CS2K, and CS2100 products.

The company closed in 2010, and in order to expand my involvement in the industry I decided to join Deltacom, a regional southeast service provider, where I served as their director of softswitches. We introduced some Metaswitch HPBX based solutions that eventually replaced 2 Nortel CS2100 and 8 DMS systems and expanded their market growth with Aastra and Cisco HPBX phones. We introduced many IP PBX vendors such as Microsoft Lync, Cisco CUCM, Avaya IPO, and NEC onto the Metaswitch platform. EarthLink acquired Deltacom in 2012, and I continued my HPBX design work as their UC Architect, concentrating on new product offerings, verification and implementation. I joined AireSpring in April of 2016. They brought me on because of my expertise in Metaswitch hosted PBX, to take technical ownership of the platform. I have found that when I introduce a new product here at AireSpring, it will be introduced in our product lineup in a timely manner, in contrast with the way much larger companies tend to lose track of or bury new products.

Tell us about your role at AireSpring and how long you’ve been with the
company.

As Manager of UCaaS Engineering, I am here at AireSpring to manage, define, and implement our AirePBX UCaaS environment. Together with our executive and product management teams we define products and strategies. My team makes them a reality by installing, commissioning and detailing support needs. We maintain the AirePBX UCaaS solution and SIP trunking environment on our Metaswitch platform, including all auxiliary applications such as SIPRec call recording, virtual fax, soft phones, Desktop Meeting and webinars. We are currently introducing new conferencing room solutions and a full Accession Meeting product suite for multi-party video and collaboration. My team also provides Tier 3 or 4 support for our Service Assurance and Implementation teams, including repair, trouble tickets, and test and turn up.

What do you enjoy most about working with AireSpring?

I like the way we work with and treat our customers. People are not afraid to escalate or raise questions, there are no silos. We all work together to always get the best results for the client and their business. No matter which company you look to for sourcing your UCaaS PBX solution, the products all seem to have a common feature set. It’s the support you receive during the pre-sales process and post sales that determines if your implementation and product choice will be a success. The products may be similar, but the people behind them are not! Thank you AireSpring for the opportunity to make a difference in the industry.

What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of the office?

I am an avid music lover, mostly of classic rock and some country. I collect vinyl, love tube amps, and own way too many guitars. I don’t play them well, but no guitar has ever been a bad investment when kept for 20 years. When not indoors, I love to go to concerts, theater, or riding my motorcycles. I live in Birmingham, AL, where I first moved when working with Deltacom. The southern part of the Appalachian Mountains is close by, and my girlfriend Michelle and I enjoy weekend rides in that beautiful country environment.

Roger, thank you for sharing your story with us!
